Athletes are known and loved for their amazing abilities on the field, on the court, in the ring or even on the track. Professional athletes seem to be resilient and will do anything to ensure they’re not defeated. For example, maintaining a healthy diet and staying fit are two key ingredients when living an athlete’s lifestyle. Here are just five pro’s that do just that with veganism.
1. Brendan Brazier
Former professional Ironman triathlete Brendan Brazier is one of the top vegan athletes out there. For over 20 years, he’s been an avid vegan and won’t ever go back to eating meat. He is now a famous nutritional consultant and even helps out NFL players and Hugh Jackman every now and again. From his “Thrive” books to Thrive Foods food delivery system to his Vega sport performance products to his ZoN Thrive Fitness programs, Brazier is a true inspiration for those looking to go vegan. He promotes all-natural lifestyles and will do anything to help others live that way.
2. Arian Foster
NFL player for the Houston Texans, Arian Foster, has made repeatedly made headlines for his vegan diet. Now, one would think such a healthy diet would create an eruption of happiness, but Foster has mainly been criticized. Some feel meat makes a better athlete, but Foster disagrees. He also educated himself when first turning vegan and made sure his body was truly benefiting. Thankfully, the criticism hasn’t stopped Foster from performing to the best of his ability nor swayed his vegan decision.
3. Venus Williams
Tennis champ and Wimbledon winner Venus Williams is just one of many tennis players embracing veganism. She first changed her diet in 2011 to help battle Sjogren’s Syndrome, which causes chronic fatigue and full-body inflammation. Williams has had nothing but success, because of her plant-based eating habits. Of course with any diet comes trial and error, which hasn’t stopped the tennis pro, as she is still eating vegan.
4. Aaron Simpson
Not only does MMA (mixed martial arts) fighter Aaron Simpson punch out guys in the ring, but he also has defeated meat by cutting it out completely. Before going vegan, he was vegetarian for three years. The decision was easy, as he made the change after his wife gave birth to their twins. A plant-based diet as provided Simpson with the opportunity to maintain his weight, stay strong and more disciplined. He even stood up for Arian Foster’s decision to go vegan.
These are some amazing athletes who haven’t succumbed to criticism over their diets, and continue to fight for their right to eat fruits and veggies!
