2013 Vegan Academy Award NomineesThe 85th Academy Awards are almost here. In honor of the highly regarded award show, we would like to honor some of the nominees who not only support the planet, but also its creatures. Here are four fabulously talented actors and actresses who maintain plant-based diets.

 

 

 

 

 

1. Anne Hathaway

2013 Vegan Academy Award NomineesIn addition to being nominated for her role in the musical “Les Miserables,” Anne Hathaway is repeatedly praised for her veganism. Not only does she maintain a plant-based diet, but she also commits to the vegan lifestyle in every way possible. For example, while filming “Les Mis” she made sure to wear custom vegan shoes, and she even wore Tom Ford vegan bondage boots to the premiere.

2. Joaquin Phoenix

2013 Vegan Academy Award NomineesNominated for his role in “The Master, Joaquin Phoenix can be quite controversial at times, but one thing people respect him for is his vegan lifestyle. Most recently, he filmed an important video for PETA. The video demonstrates the horrific slaughter of fish. For a long time now, Phoenix has spoken out against animal cruelty and how much he respects the planet’s creatures.

3. Jessica Chastain

2013 Vegan Academy Award NomineesThe world first fell in love with Jessica Chastain when she starred in “The Help.” Currently, she is receiving praise for her role in “Zero Dark Thirty,” which also earned her an Oscar nod. In addition to her acting talents, Chastain is also recognized for her animal activism and vegan diet. While filming, she made time to watch animal rescue videos, which helped her with her role.

4. Hugh Jackman

2013 Vegan Academy Award NomineesHe may be recognized for his smashing good looks – and body- but Hugh Jackman didn’t get that my sitting on the couch. He works out, and maintains a healthy diet, and sometimes a vegan one. Jackman also credited vegan professional Brendan Brazier for his body in “Wolverine.” He also wrote the foreword for Brazier’s “Thrive” book. You can check out his good looks on the Oscar red carpet, since he is nominated for his part in “Les Mis.”
