If you’re looking for a new Thanksgiving tradition the Adopt a Turkey Project from Farm Sanctuary may be the answer! The group is encouraging anyone and everyone to save an animal’s life and say no to turkey on the dinner table.
For those who don’t know, Farm Sanctuary ‘s mission is to protect farm animals from cruelty, inspire change in the way society views and treats farm animals, and promote compassionate vegan living.
Since 1986 at Thanksgiving, the organization has asked those who can to lend compassion to turkeys through its Adopt a Turkey Project, since so many people love to gobble up turkey during the holiday season. The project saves turkeys but it also educates people on the importance of animal rescue. For just $30 you can sponsor a turkey or for $180 you can sponsor a whole flock for your family and friends.
Actor Alex Baldwin is the 2016 Adopt a Turkey Spokesperson. “This year I’m supporting Farm Sanctuary’s Adopt a Turkey Project because turkeys are just as friendly, smart, and full of feeling as my dogs, and they deserve to be treated better.” Baldwin says on the Farm Sanctuary website.
