In continuation to our reduce, reuse, recycle holiday series, here are tips on how to make cooking an eco-friendly occasion!

Green Holiday Tip # 2: Cooking

Baking cookies and casseroles; putting together cheese and fruit trays; and cooking for an army are overwhelming tasks. To make it more enjoyable, here are some eco-friendly tips so the kitchen doesn’t go up in flames!

1. Instead of using the traditional artificial products found in your grocery story, go natural. Natural foods will not only make your food taste better, but can turn your meal into a healthy one. Find fresh and organic products at Whole Foods or go to a farmers market, if you’re lucky enough to have one nearby!

2. Food, food and more food. It’s easy to overcook, especially when it comes to desserts, and then we have tons of leftovers! Let’s be honest. No one can eat all those leftovers, yummy or not. So, this year why not try composting leftovers? Here are two sites to guide you in the right direction: Find a Composter and Composting 101.
