Tis’ the season to get together with friends, family, and co-workers and enjoy everything the holidays have to offer. If you are hosting a shindig this year, here are some tips on how to have an eco-friendly holiday party!
Decorations: Instead of spending money and environmental resources, try recycling old decorations and making new ones. In case you missed our post about eco-holiday décor, check it out here!
Lighting: For a more romantic vibe, why not try making use of candles? Candles create a soft ambiance and will allow your space to smell delicious. If you want soft lighting but will have kids running around, make sure your bulbs are environmentally friendly, check out energy star for more information on buying bulbs that will save energy.
Food: Although cooking for holiday parties can be stressful, it can also be fun when you let your creative juices flow. Try our fresh bruschetta recipe for something light and Christmas-colored. Be sure to buy local, organic food from nearby farms. It will not only taste delicious, it will be a conversation starter!
Donations: Instead of gifts, why not put a benevolent twist on Secret Santa by donating to a charity in your secret santa’s name? If your secret santa is an animal lover, why not donate to the humane society? If you go to charity navigator.org, you can discover a multitude of reputable charities to donate to, and surely you can find something your secret santa would be honored to be a part of.
Invitations: Be sure to print your invitations on recycled paper or buy cards that were made using recycled materials!
We hope your party is full of laughs and cheer, don’t forget the Christmas music and some mistletoe!
